Ms. Katy – Katherine Overby Howland studied ballet with Halcyone Perlman and Michael Simms in Columbia, Mo.  Early training included study at the Banff School of Fine Arts.  She received her B.F.A in Dance from Stephens College. She studied ballet, modern, jazz, character and tap in London, England and New York City.  In London she completed professional level Cecchetti ballet exams.  In New York she studied ballet with David Howard, Finis Jhung, and Gabrielle Darvash, and modern at the Hawkins school.  Katy taught, performed and choreographed while at Stephens, for the Perlman school and Mid-Missouri Dance Theatre, and was ballet mistress at DanceArts of Columbia.  The last seventeen years at Dancers’ Alley have been the very best!

Ms. Clara –Clara Howland Bigelow is a 2008 graduate of Stephens College with a degree in Human Development/Child Studies and dance.  She studied ballet with Halcyone Perlman, ballet and modern with Katy Howland, and tap with LuAnn Madsen.  At Stephens she studied Modern, Ballet, Tap, Spanish Flamenco, Irish Step Dancing, and Russian Character and took many master classes.  Clara has performed with the Mid-Missouri Dance Theatre, DanceArts, Dance Concepts, and Dancers Alley.  She loves teaching all of her students and managing the front desk.

Ms. Kristina – Kristina Schaefer-Mills studied ballet, tap, jazz, lyrical jazz, and was an assistant teacher with Ibsen Dance Theatre in Kansas City, MO.  She participated in Gladstones Theater in the Park in numerous musicals and was a member of her high school pom pom squad.  As a student at UMC she was the dance director and choreographer for Alpha Chi Omega sorority.  She graduated from UMC in 2006.  Kristina is a certified Les Mills body pump, body step, and zumba instructor, and is the dance team coach for Hickman High School.

Ms. Jordan- Jordan Burkhardt is a Jeff City native.  She studied ballet, tap, modern, and jazz at Dancers’ Alley, took part in numerous dance recitals, special dance performances and productions of The Nutcracker, and was a student teacher/assistant for many years.  Jordan is currently a 1st grade teacher at Parkade Elementary in Columbia and has just completed her Master’s degree in Education.

Ms. Liz – Liz Hansen Vanderfeltz is a Jefferson City native.  She studied tap, jazz, ballet, modern and hip hop at Dancers’ Alley.  She performed with the Helias Dance Team, in numerous recitals and productions of “The Nutcracker”, and attended competitions and conventions. She currently choreographs for Helias spring musicals, is involved with TLTJC and Capital City Players, and enjoys attending the St. Louis Tap Festival.  She is a 2009 Louisiana State University History and Political Science graduate and in 2013 completed her M.A. in Teaching from Columbia College.   Liz is a middle school Social Studies teacher at St. Peter Interparish School and assistant coach for Helias Dance Team.

Ms. Emma – Emma Montgomery is from Columbia, MO, where she studied at DanceArts of Columbia, was a part of the competition team, and a member of the Hickman High school Dance Team.  She graduated from Stephens College in 2012 with a BFA in dance.  Emma has coached for the Hickman Dance Team and taught at DanceArts in Columbia.  She is a Grants and Contracts Specialist for the University of Missouri Pharmacology and Physiology Department.

Ms. Aubrey – Aubrey Phillips started dancing at the age of four and has had the privilege of training in many diverse styles throughout the United States.  She studied with the North Carolina Dance Theatre and the Tulsa Ballet.  Aubrey graduated from Oklahoma City University with a B. F. A. in Dance Performance.  She has since danced with such companies as Princess Cruises, Royal Caribbean International, the American Spirit Dance Company, the Nashville Chinese Arts Alliance, and Neil Goldberg’s Cirque Dreams, where she served as Dance Captain in his production Coobrila.  Aubrey is very happy to be joining the Dancers’ Alley faculty and family, and she is excited to share her love of dance and teaching with the studio’s many talented students.

Ms. Emily – Emily Zimmermann Gilstrap began her serious training at Professional Ballet School and the Academy of Ballet in San Francisco, as well as summer intensives with Joffrey Ballet. She performed with Peninsula Ballet Theatre and directed a dance program at the Palo Alto Family YMCA.  She received a B. A. in Anthropology at UC Santa Cruz, where she also performed as a featured dancer and was assistant choreographer for Cabrillo Stage musical Theater Company, performed in the local Santa Cruz community, and taught at Western Ballet in Mountain View. Emily completed a Master’s of Science degree in Archaeology. She and her husband moved to Columbia in 2015 and are raising their young son. Emily is Ballet Mistress and Director of Development for Missouri Contemporary Ballet and is thrilled to continue sharing her passion for dance.

Ms. Kalley– Kalley Schollmeyer is a Jefferson City native who grew up studying ballet, tap, jazz, contemporary and hip-hop at Dancers’ Alley, and was a long time competition team member. She was an assistant teacher during High School and helped with many classes. She is a freshman taking on-line classes at Columbia College pursuing a nursing degree.  Kalley participated in numerous dance recitals, community performances, and The Nutcracker.
